Add an inexpensive second 3.5mm stereo Key jack to your KX2/KX3 to use for a second paddle, to clean up the wiring and keep dust out of the front key port. By setting the ‘CW KEY1′ and CW KEY2’ menu items appropriately you can configure your KX to use the left panel Key jack and KX Keyport for paddles or straight keys separately and simultaneously.
Pro Audio Engineering has purchased the KX Buddy Key product from W6IPA. We took the opportunity to make a few improvements to the original clever design to improve reliability in weather often encountered in the field and now we offer you the improved KX Keyport:
- Stainless Steel black-oxide screws to eliminate corrosion.
- Comes with a 3/32″ hex wrench for attachment.
- PCB is gold plated to resist corrosion
- Rig interface uses gold-plated 4-contact precision machined sockets (not tin-plate bent forks) for reliable contact.
- Traces have been widened to reduce possibility of damage during soldering.
- Tip and Ring assignment is corrected, and is now the same as the jack on the KX rig, so no menu tip/ring changes needed, and if two keys are attached they will both operate the same.
- HP-MJF 3D glass-loaded Nylon case has superior strength and textured appearance matching the rig.
- KX Keyport is available in kit or factory-built versions. Kit is easy to assemble, with one through-hole jack and one surface-mount jack, but with large pads for ease of soldering.
