This first series of Eneloop tests was conducted with 8 cells in series in a set of Elecraft KX3 battery holders. It was apparent after two tests the holders were affecting the test results so we switched to testing individual cells. Scroll down to see the test results for bare cells.
Specifications (8 cells in holders)
Nominal V – DC 9.6 V
Weight – 9.4 oz (266 g)
Volume (excl wires) – 7.03 in³ (115.2 cm³)
Claimed capacity – 2550 mAh (2400 min)
2100 mA (0.81 C) discharge rate – 1120 mAh capacity, running time 31:48
TR Cycle – (alt. 0.18-1.8 A discharge) – 1705 mAh capacity, running time 2:20:44
Measured Energy – 16.32 Wh @ TR Cycle rate
Measured Specific Energy – 1.74 Wh/oz (61.4 Wh/kg)
Measured Energy Density – 2.32 Wh/in³ (141 Wh/L)
This second series of Eneloop tests was conducted on single cells. 4 cells were individually tested and the results averaged, and the nominal cell voltage and physical characteristics multiplied times 8.
